February Half Term at Llanrumney Hall

Llanrumney Hall Community Trust, Creatively Yours and Cardiff and Vale College are teaming up again to deliver another half term packed with exciting activities and opportunities! The majority of these are completely FREE! See below for full details and how to get involved.

1. Children's Arts and Crafts

Creatively Yours have teamed up with Cardiff and Vale College to bring you Children’s Arts & Crafts Club. The children will be experimenting with a variety of mixed media, such as painting and creating mini sculptures. This club aims to bring the creative and artistic side out of children that lies beneath all of them, and to get them out of the house during their time off school.


The club will take place in the Arts & Crafts Room at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to children aged between 4 and 12 years old.


Date: Monday 20th February


Time: Slot 1: 11am – 12pm Slot 2: 2 – 3pm

We advise to book as soon as possible as there are limited spaces. Please wear clothes you wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty. If you cannot make your slot, please can you ring reception so we can release your slot. We also ask all parents to stay on site during the club.




2. Family Learning - Stickman Workshop

This family activity is a chance for parents to help their children learn valuable reading skills. We will read the story of the 'Stickman' which will facilitate 4 creative activities that follow. A great opportunity for parents to transfer these skills and enhance at home learning in an effective but fun way!


These workshops will take place at Llanrumney Hall in the Admiral’s Quarters, are completely FREE, and are open to families with Children aged 3-7.

3. Free Family Play Session


Public Health Wales, Re-Create, and Play Wales are coming to The Hall to talk to parents about how they can engage children in the necessary levels of physical activity in creative ways they may not have thought of before. Whilst the children go off and play with all the cool things that the organizations bring along, there will be an opportunity for parents to engage in conversation with professionals about what they feel the biggest daily barriers are to physical play and how they can overcome these to ensure children meet their daily physical activity requirements.


The session will take place at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to adults and children of any age.

4. TikTok Inspired Arts and Crafts for Teens:

How many times this week have you scrolled through TikTok and thought 'That's so cool, I wish I could make that!?’ Well wish no longer and pop down to Llanrumney Hall this February Half term and learn how to maximise your TikTok account and become a trendsetter for all things creative!


The club will take place in the Arts & Crafts Room at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to teenagers aged between 14 and 18 years old.

5. Gardening Club

Are you ready to get your hands dirty? Come and join us at Gardening Club where there's an opportunity to learn how to garden and make like-minded friends whilst you’re digging away.


The club will take place in our Polytunnels in the outer grounds of The Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to anyone aged 14+.

6. Dance Class for Teens

Calling all Teenagers! Come and join Keziah from KOKO Dance Academy for an exciting couple of hours of dance this half term. Suitable for beginner and experienced dancers, we'll build confidence as well as creativity together using different styles of street dance such as whacking, commercial and hip-hop, and we'll finish off by learning a routine to music by your favourite singers and rappers.


The club will take place in the Kemey's Room at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to teenagers of aged between 13 and 18.

7. Teen Club

Who could say no to the opportunity of learning a wide range of new skills and make new friends at the same time? We've got crafts, gardening, D.I.Y and games to keep the teens busy this half term!


The club will take place in the Arts & Crafts Room at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to anyone aged between 14 and 18.


Date: Wednesday 22nd February


Time: 2 – 4pm


To Book: No booking required, just turn up!


Number of Spaces Available: 10


Please wear clothing you would not mind getting dirty. Lunch is not included, so please make sure you eat beforehand or bring a packed lunch along with you.




8. Cooking Demo

Come along to our half term Cooking Demo for a chance to learn some low-budget sustainable recipes with our team. Our cooking instructors will be taking every day items from The Pantry and making some delicious meals to feed the family from them. A great class for parents, guardians or students who won’t be able to rely on mum and dad when they move away!


The club will take place in the polytunnel, is completely FREE, and is open to anyone aged 16+.

9. Adult Mindfulness Doodling

Looking for a new type of therapeutic activity? Come to Llanrumney Hall and drift off into your own little creative world. We’ll supply paint, pens and pencils and you take it from there. Come in and chat or just draw in solitude. There will be a friendly atmosphere awaiting you, accompanied by relaxing music to keep that pen-hand flowing.


The club will take place in the Arts & Crafts Room at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to all adults aged 16+.

10. Free Haircuts & Nail Filing delivered by Cardiff & Vale College Students

Pop down to The Hall this February half term and receive a free haircut, barber cut and/or a nail file and nail paint. These services will be delivered by Cardiff and Vale College Students who will apply everything that they have learnt from professional teachers to you!


These opportunities will take place at Llanrumney Hall in the admiral room, are completely FREE, and are open to anyone aged 16+

Please can hair be pre-washed. The students will spray your hair down to cut it, then blow dry and style after. There are limited spaces for these opportunities so if you are interested, please get in touch ASAP.




11. Pottery Workshop

Pottery is back! Come down to The Hall and experiment working with clay and paints. What you create will be turned into wall decorations that you can take home with you! There is nothing quite like looking at something beautiful that decorates your home that enables you to say “I made that!”.


The club will take place in the Arts and Craft Shed at Llanrumney Hall, will cost £3 (pay on the day), and is open to all ages! Younger children (12 and below) must be supervised by adults on the day.


Slot 1 is open to our Youth Group only.

12. Youth Project

Come and join our Youth Project! Each term we have a project to work on involving Arts & Crafts and D.I.Y skills. The finalization of the project will help fundraise for Llanrumney Hall. The club will take place at Llanrumney Hall, is completely FREE, and is open to teenagers between 13 and 18 years old.
