Llanrumeny Hall Has Visit From Local Boxing Legend!

Llanrumney Hall recently welcomed Rhys Edwards for a tour of our historic building with our Founder and Chair of Trustees, Steve Borley.

Rhys Edwards is a professional boxer from South Wales who won his first National Title at just 13 years old. His career only excelled from there, taking 5 Welsh titles, 2 British titles, and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games – it’s clear he’s put in the work to get to where he is today.

When he’s not in the ring, he’s training under the influence of Gary Lockett in Llanrumney and has also trained at the Llanrumney Phoenix Boxing Club. The Phoenix Club is more than just a place to train, it’s a place of support, and as a famously underfunded area in Cardiff, facilities such as Phoenix Boxing Club are a huge benefit to the community of Llanrumney.

Steve recently sponsored Rhys through his company CMB Engineering for the biggest fight of his career, as he fought as the undercard to Welsh Olympic Gold Medallist Lauren Price’s world title fight against Jessica McCaskill in the Utilita Arena, Cardiff.

Edwards took the win in an entertaining fight, putting him 16 - 0. From all at Llanrumney Hall, a huge congratulations to Rhys for his incredible win. It was a pleasure to have you with us for the day and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best of luck for your next fight Rhys!
