February Half Term Community Courses

Llanrumney Hall Community Trust are excited to announce that we have been working alongside Cardiff and Vale College as well as funders to deliver exciting programmes and opportunities throughout the February 2022 half term. Take a read below to get the latest news and learn how to apply and get involved!


1. Re:Generate

The Re:Generate project will be a 5-day intensive course centered around upcycling, which refers to the reuse and repurposing of discarded materials to give them a new lease of life and value. It will run from 21st – 25th February 2022 and will provide participants with a Skills Development qualification by Agored Cymru and accredited by Cardiff and Vale College. Attendees will be required to attend all 5 days and must be aged between 13-19 y/o.


The course is 100% free for participants and will take place at Llanrumney Hall.

Date/Time: Monday 21st – Friday 25th February 2022 (Half Term). 10am – 4:30pm.























2. Bird Box Project.

We will teach young people how to create bird boxes so that they can be distributed around the Llanrumney Hall site as well as other local areas and nature reserves. Attendees will have the chance to develop new hands-on DIY skills as well as meet new people and develop teamwork and personal skills. The course is 100% free and will take place at Llanrumney Hall.


The project will take place across 2 sessions at Llanrumney Hall on Thursday 24th February 2022 and is open to people aged 13-19 y/o.

3. Build A Bench Project

The Build a Bench Project will facilitate young people working alongside an instructor to develop new skills, such as DIY abilities, social skills and teamwork. The benches will be placed in the grassed area of the Llanrumney Hall entrance where local people can sit, read, bird watch or have a cup of tea. The course is 100% free and will take place at Llanrumney Hall.


The 3-day course is open to anyone aged 13-19 y/o and will take place in the February half term, Monday 21st – Wednesday 23rd February 2022, 1-3pm.

4. Speak Up!:

A 2-day workshop aimed at building confidence in young people, led by Cath Little, a professional story teller who has taught English in London, Italy and Egypt.


The course will give you the confidence to build on your ability to speak in public, ideal for those looking to attend job interviews, university interviews and presentation skills etc.


The course is open to anyone aged 13-19 y/o and will take place in the February half term, Monday 21st & Tuesday 22nd February 2022.

5. Teen DIY Club:


This course is held across 3 days in the February half term and aims to provide young people with hand-on DIY experience to develop their range of skills and abilities.


It will involve projects such as building garden planters, bug hotels and painting picnic benches.
