KOKO Dance Academy Heads For New York

Llanrumney Hall’s very own KOKO Dance Academy, led by professional dancer and principal Keziah, has achieved something truly incredible.

Congratulations to the 16 talented dancers who performed at the National Entertainment Awards at the O2 Indigo in London — what an unforgettable experience to take the stage at such an iconic venue.

This remarkable milestone follows a string of achievements, including:

• Overall Winner of the Community Impact Award at the Welsh Regional Entertainment Awards

• Service Excellence Award at The Prestige Awards

• Nominee for National Best Dance School 2025

Earlier this month, KOKO’s Performance Team took to the stage at the NEA Dance Championships at the O2 — and wowed the judges so much they received the Golden Buzzer.

This incredible moment means the academy will return to perform at the O2 again in June 2026, and even more excitingly, they have been invited to perform in New York City in 2028.

The winning performance featured 16 dedicated young dancers from East Cardiff, who trained every Friday for the past year — often giving up birthday parties and sleepovers to stay committed to rehearsals. Their hard work, discipline, and passion truly paid off!

“When we got the Golden Buzzer, I could just tell this would be an everlasting memory in the girls’ lives,” said Keziah. “Some of the dads were even crying in the audience. It felt amazing that the girls got a taste of what it means to persevere and work hard — and reap the rewards. Together we showed what Llanrumney and Wales are capable of.”

Keziah says this marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the academy, with a growing committee and renewed community support helping more children follow their dreams through dance.

Everyone at Llanrumney Hall Community Trust is bursting with pride for Keziah and her incredible dancers — a shining example of talent, teamwork, and what can be achieved when a community believes in its young people.
