Recognition for our Volunteers: Posted 14/11/2022
The Cardiff Volunteer Awards is an annual awards ceremony held to celebrate a variety of volunteering in Cardiff. It is a great way to show recognition to volunteers, community groups and organisations for their contributions and achievements.
Our 3 nominations are as followed: Our very own Christine Borley has been nominated for Trustee of the Year. Christine officially became a Trustee in February of last year and was a committed and regular volunteer prior to that. Christine goes above and beyond to give back to the community, has dedicated countless amounts of her time to The Hall since day one and her significant contributions to the betterment of the Trust have positively benefited the local community. Earlier this year, Christine and other staff members help to secure a grant from Cardiff Council to offer women and girls sanitary items, which could be subtly collected from Llanrumney Hall free of charge. This has helped a huge number of women in the area at a time when costs are soaring, and we received brilliant feedback from the community on this. Christine was also one of the main driving forces behind last month’s Halloween event and we cannot thank her enough for her contributions to this. She has been with us since the start and without her commitment, we wouldn’t be where we are today. The Llanrumney Hall Community Trust Pantry was nominated for Volunteer Group of the Year. The Pantry is part of the Your Local Pantry franchise and is a community facility that aims to reduce food poverty in Cardiff East by providing affordable and accessible food/household essentials to the people and families of Llanrumney. Since the cost-of-living crisis, the use of Your Local Pantry’s and Food Banks have become increasingly over-subscribed and are needed by the community now more than ever. Because of the help of our volunteers, we can offer the people of Llanrumney a more affordable and more sustainable alternative to generic supermarkets which in turn also supports our local Charity. Our lead volunteer at The Pantry was nominated for Outstanding Community Volunteer. Lynn Martin has been our lead volunteer for The Pantry since before it even opened its doors in October 2020 and has stuck with ever since! She never fails to show up with a smile and dedicate her time to this community and has provided a level of added value which we otherwise couldn’t have imagined without her. Her hard work and resilience has helped grow The Pantry to what it is today and this has undoubtedly had a positive impact on the whole community. The members of The Pantry love her and in turn she has become a part of the Llanrumney Hall family. Lynn has been there since the start and will continue to volunteer - it’s clear she loves to make a difference.
We want to wish each of our nominees the best of luck and we can’t wait to watch the ceremony on Thursday evening. Event Details:
Thursday 17th November

From everyone at Llanrumney Hall, we want to thank not only our nominees for their excellence, but also all of our other volunteers that help us week upon week. The Trust would not be the same without you.
